Last year, 371,556 #LitterHeroes joined forces – despite the Beast from the East – to collect litter at 13,500 events across the UK, taking a national stand against litter. This year, we’re aiming to get half a million people taking part. So please, get talking to your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to help us spread the word. Last year, 80% of those who responded to our survey following the Great British Spring Clean had contacted other people nearby who wanted to keep the area tidy.
This year, not only are we removing litter from our streets, parks and beaches, but we are also working in partnership with councils to safely dispose of – and recycle – what we collect.
This year, Keep Britain Tidy have developed a website so event hosts can capture the number of minutes of activity and the type of rubbish collected. These insights will help us continue to understand the challenge and the impact of our collective action.
We will ask participants to separate the litter they find in to:
1. Plastic bottles
2. Aluminium cans
3. General waste
