LOVE LYME REGIS

Love Lyme’s Beaches started, like a lot of our groups, from a desire to make things better in the group’s local area. The group was formed in 2014 by running quarterly beach cleans, collecting the rubbish left behind by tides and people alike, and keeping a log of what they were finding.

WEST BAY

This group is particularly concerned at the proliferation of BIO BEADS, which are found regularly at West Bay Promenade Beach, and are investigating their source. It is in touch with another group at Charmouth, where bio beads are also found, and recently bio beads have also been found at Freshwater Bay.

If you’d like to help with beach clean activities or get involved with West Bay Volunteers contact Beach Clean lead Joe Hackett.

BOWLEAZE COVE

Formed in 2015, this is one of the newest of Litter Free Coast and Sea’s community groups. They run quarterly beach cleans, and are beginning to develop targeted campaigns to reduce specific types of litter on their local beach. at Bowleaze Cove.

This group has benefitted from a grant from the Marine Conservation Society’s HP Clean-up fund, which has provided training for the group’s leaders and important equipment for them to use on beach cleans and in their campaign work.
