The Electrical Reuse Project has now come to an end.
Thanks to the support of Dorset residents, volunteer repair cafés, community partners and Material Focus, hundreds of unwanted electrical items were given a second life instead of being thrown away.
While the project has finished, there are still plenty of ways to repair, reuse and recycle your unwanted electricals across Dorset.

The Electrical Reuse Project, funded by Material Focus, aimed to reduce electrical waste across Dorset while fostering a community focused on reuse. Free home collections were offered in Dorchester, Weymouth, Blandford, Gillingham, Sherborne, and Wimborne, making it easy for residents to donate unwanted small electrical items. These items were transported to a workshop provided by W&S, where volunteers from local Repair Cafés sorted, tested, and repaired them. Any electricals that were safe and suitable for reuse were then redistributed free of charge at community “Give or Take” events.

Recycled if unrepairable
Through the project, unwanted small electricals were collected from households and community events, repaired and safety tested by skilled volunteers, then redistributed to local residents and community organisations.
The Electrical Reuse Project has ended and we are no longer offering home collections or Give or Take events.
